SEO vs Sales Positions

One of the first steps to plan out when starting a business is to decide what type of marketing the business will focus on. In one hand, there is the ever changing prospect of search engine optimization. On the other, hiring an active sales force.

When considering the prospect of focusing on the optimization of a website, many things need to be taken into account. First, an in depth knowledge of the algorithms of the major search engines is required. It isn't enough to attach keywords that simply seem relevant. The search engine needs to think they are, as well. Second, even if the most relevant keywords are attached to the back-end of the business website, it will still need to generate hits. Just like with Pay-Per-Click advertising, even if you're paying the most, or generating the best keywords, what people click will still matter more. You won't reach that top spot naturally without any hits. This brings up the last thing to keep in mind, which is that the website itself will need to be an effective selling tool. In the end, once you have achieved the optimal natural listing and are generating hits, the website is the storefront to the business online. If it doesn't sell well, the entire deal is lost.

On the other hand, there is the prospect of having an active sales force. Having an active sales force will most certainly be more costly, even if it pays for itself in leads and business. It will require additional employees to train and oversee the ones that are actively selling and will bring the possibility of misrepresentation. However, an active sales force can close deals that the owner of the business might otherwise be too busy to handle, thus increasing profits.

In the end, the truth is that a little of both might be what keeps the customers coming in and the business from going under.

Your SEO Company Can Make Or Break Your Online Business

by Jonathan Lee

The increasing use and penetration of the internet has brought Search Engine Optimization or SEO to the fore for marketing of different products and services. To cater to this need, many firms have emerged, providing expert SEO services at appealing prices. Although, these services are very valuable, the process of hiring an SEO company must always keep in consideration your needs and their expertise.

The most basic parameter of judging an SEO company is whether it follows ethical means or not. Although an unscrupulous practice might be able to yield results quickly, it can easily lead to search engine penalties, and might even project a bad image to potential customers. Using methods that are recognized by search engines and improve your quality of service is the right way to go about increasing traffic to your site. Ethical SEO practices include using good keyword rich content, creating links to your site, and making use of Meta tags in the correct manner.

The content of the website must be unique with proper keywords density and any good SEO company will give due importance to that. Both these aspects go a long way in escalating the positioning of your website with major search engines. Besides, content sharing has become a key SEO strategy, and hence the firm must create materials like videos and articles to be given out free of cost.

The SEO company needs to be abreast of the recent technical innovations in the field and have the ability to offer the entire gamut of SEO services. That can be achieved by having an understanding of the firm, followed by listing keyword that are popular among consumers, and then finally putting strategies in place to increase traffic to the website.

Developing a successful campaign requires an understanding of all the SEO techniques and a capability to apply them to good effect. Established SEO companies have a well trained team of specialists who are qualified in these tools and methods and know what clicks and what does not in a specific situation.

Last but not the least, it is important to note that SEO is not a one time activity, and lasting success can only be attained by using SEO services periodically. To deal with the alterations in the algorithms used by search engines, you must always keep optimizing and realigning your site to stay above the competition and that’s where an SEO company plays a vital role.

The Right Way to Use Article Marketing

by Paul Duncan

Even if you are new to internet marketing, I’m sure you’ve heard of article marketing. In fact there is a good chance you’ve tried it.But most people are not aware of its power. Article marketing is usually thought of as a form of “bum marketing”. Bum marketing is different techniques to promote online, that cost

nothing.Marketers that use these methods usually think of article marketing as a finished product. They think that you submit and article that has hyperlinks to your offer. They may or may not ping and social bookmark the article. To them, the article is the end of the road. In their eyes you write some information and at the end there is a strong call to action, the link to the sale. Now there is nothing wrong with this, but this is just the beginning. In my opinion this is pretty much a waste of an article.

There is a war on spam going on. Nobody wants it. Many people buy software programs to keep forms of spam out of their computers, or websites. Webmasters detest having their websites cluttered with spam. The search engines like Google also are against it. They are trying to point people to good information, not worthless information. Google has made very clear that they are looking for unique relevant content. So the bottom line is, if you want to be successful online, you should avoid looking like a spammer. On the other hand this is great news because you know exactly what is going to make everyone happy. Good content.Unique articles will be looked on favorably by website owners, and Google will favor sending traffic to unique content.

Now in the earlier bum marketing example, the article may be distributed to a small number of article websites. Each article may get initially 100 views. As I stated, it is possible to get sales from this method, but in truth, probably not that many. The article may get 100 views or more at each site. If you use traffic tools, social bookmarking etc., you might get a lot more. But if that article is IDENTICAL at each site, there is going to be a penalty. I don’t mean an actual penalty like a traffic ticket, but, the search engines and possibly the webmaster may not be thrilled about your work. To them you are not posting quality material, and they are not going to do much for you.

Suppose you could write fifty articles, and submit them to fifty article sites. Surely the number of viewers would increase dramatically. But writing 50 articles is a lot of work.

You can actually get three things from your article submissions. First you get the instant sales, as in the bum marketing example. And, you also get traffic. Traffic that can be used to send the reader to your sales page. The third thing you get is backlinks. The strictly SEO benefit of looking good to the search engines. So you see thinking that the article is the last stop is not a great idea. You want to get the full power This is where article spinners comes in. With this program you can turn one article, into hundreds of DIFFERENT articles. Articles of good content, that is welcomed, and makes everyone happy. Especially you.

Article Rewriters used to be terrible not too long ago, but that’s no longer the case. I’m happy to report that the gibberish days are over. You can now write one article, and turn it into 50 or more in just minutes. The new copies are about the same subject of course, but titles are different, wording is unique, and each article seems fresh.

So this is your new article strategy. Get a good article rewriter or spinner and create 50 unique relevant articles and submit them to fifty good article directories. Then ping them all, and social bookmark them. BUT, put your hyperlinks to a good landing page, or a page of your blog with the offer you are trying to promote. You can in reality expect to get thousands, even tens of thousands of readers. Remember this is all from one article rewritten.

And the best part of all of course, is it doesn’t cost a thing.

3 Tips on Optimizing Your Facebook Fan Page for the Search Engines

If you want your Facebook page to get as many fans as possible, it’s going to require you to do a little work first. While all the others are busy buying ads on Facebook to promote their fan page, you can a step ahead of them and drive traffic through the search engines for free. That’s right; optimizing your fan page for the search engines is the smartest thing that you can do.

It doesn’t even take much effort to do so, all you need to do is keep a few things in mind, that’s all. Use the following three SEO tips to get more traffic and more fans to your page so that you can beat the competition and finally succeed.

The first thing that you need to remember when creating your fan page is to focus on getting a name for your page that’s actually your brand name. To put it another way, you need to make sure you have the absolutely best name for your Facebook page. You should opt for a name that goes with what business you’re in and also what you plan to do. This is why you should always just go with your brand name so that you don’t have a lot of generic keywords and phrases in your name, which most people will look at as someone who is trying to scam other people.

Another thing that you need to keep in mind when picking your fan page name is to not change it often. The name of your Facebook page should always be kept the same because Google uses it to place it in the search engines and changing it can ruin that placement. This happens because Google uses the titles of pages to determine what that content is about and places it accordingly, and if you change anything you are going to find your page starting all over from square one. Add fresh new content on a regular basis that is unique to your fan page. Today, wall posts, status updates, and other types of posts show up in a search. What this means is that ever single time you add new content it will be posted to your wall and increase the odds of your page being found in Facebook searches. Don’t just rely on targeted keywords but open up and include a few generic ones in order to reach a much wider audience through Facebook searches.

Don’t look beyond the power of offering your audience a reward for joining your fan page following. It’s important to make sure that the reward is attractive so that people will want to follow your fan page in order to get it. Doing this will not only multiple traffic through search engines but will also reach a much broader group of people. It also allows you to get your brand in front of a large audience easily.

In summary, once you have effectively optimized your page for the search engines, you will realize that it is not all that challenging and that it will not take much time to see results start pouring in. It is also very important to remember that properly optimizing your Facebook fan page is just one way to get the success you want. You need to keep putting in this same effort to get more search engine traffic by working on your SEO. Even though there are lots of factors that go into making sure your fan page is successful, it is how you use this traffic and use it for future successes that really matters to your business.

If your Looking for Guaranteed Website Traffic - Buy It

Assuming you're hunting for the best tactic to boost sales conversions and get guaranteed website traffic to the website, you should contemplate "paying" for your traffic. Paying out to get guaranteed website traffic allows you to quickly test and tweak the web site.

The sooner you hit upon the highest converting product sales materials, the earlier you will begin creating reliable money. The ability to get guaranteed website traffic and generate sales momentum is the key.
Some of us believe that achieving on line successes is sheer luck. But that isn't it by any means! It calls for a respectable feeling for your market, plus loads of labor.

The core idea to concentrate the business on is getting guaranteed website traffic "momentum". Lacking traffic, you'll not have anyone to sell your product or service to. The more visitor momentum you have got, the more traffic will stumble across your web site then make a purchase.

Phone books as well as printed newspapers all over the world tend to be fighting for survival currently because internet search browsers have rapidly turned out to be a "go to" fund of instruction - regardless what product or service somebody is looking to get.

Internet search engines deliver millions of users with knowledge every day. Search browsers are able to provide site links to sites that can solve the searchers problem. If your links come up, and if you can supply the resolution to the searchers problem, you've gotten a major opportunity to make a sale.

Investing in visitors is very much similar to purchasing traffic momentum. At first it might sound like it is a terrible strategy, but the potential profits are too vast to turn your back on. If you're able to increase website hits from search engines, and obtain a lot of guaranteed website traffic...you will begin making sales conversions on daily basis.

Once a key phrase is searched for, you'll get charged for each instance where the links get clicked. That's called "pay per click (PPC)". With other quick traffic options, you will get billed per number of times the ad is shown; this is referred to as "cost per thousand."

Making your bids on the best keyword phrases is critical; or else, you might not get any lucrative, acceptably targeted hits. Take the effort to research the marketplace and ascertain what keywords the "buyers" use to find the answers to their difficulties. Using this method you'll be receiving "targeted" traffic. The best type!

The money you use as part of the quest for quick traffic will produce a positive result... You will acquire a massive influx of visitors to your web site, that WILL end up in many more sales conversions. Paying to get the traffic is a good idea. The only bad side would be that you'll want to definitely keep a strict control of the expenditures. Fine-tune your ad until it's profitably working before you commit to a big budget.

As a result of having to pay for your web traffic, you are making sure that you get guaranteed website traffic and a lot of momentum. You'll obtain bunches of quick traffic that has been looking explicitly for what your site is offering.

However, if cash is tight, there's bunches of sources to get guaranteed website traffic that are free! Check into them too!

Building Good Relationships With Your Customers

For any business to operate and expand, the business owner must have facilities and the methods or techniques of efficient operation. Although all these elements are present to a satisfactory degree, success is still unsure unless one of its elements, which is the "customer", is present. This element is necessary for the business to grow and the salesman or dealer must continually be working on for the penetration of the available market.

Since business is dependent upon customers for profit and continued growth and expansion, it is evident that relationships with customers are vitally important to the success of your business. Today, business owners should be gravely concerned with this problem. Competition is very tight nowadays. Many similar businesses are overwhelming the market. This is happening in many similar businesses such as printing greeting cards, business cards printing, custom greeting card printing, boutiques, salon, health and beauty shops and the likes.
With this competition among businesses, you need to know some techniques on how to improve your relationships with your customers. Here is how:

Improve your understanding of human behavior. Since all the people in your business in one way or another have contact with customers, it is important to teach them to recognize individual differences. There is a need to understand the principles of frustration and emotional involvement so that irritation and conflict can be avoided.

Show sincere interest in the customer and his problem. This technique is one that can be practiced even by the inexperienced. Common courtesy demands that such people be treated with respect. In handling each individual, it is important that this interest in the customers should not be based on the profit to be obtained from him or her. For instance, someone would like to return the greeting cards he bought at your printing shop due to some changes in the design or have something to add in it. Show interest and courteously ask what he would like you do with the greeting cards.

Deal appropriately with the unsatisfied customer. Where there is customer dissatisfaction, it is necessary to find out the cause such as careless work, defective parts, or unforeseen difficulties arising from some type of faulty adjustment. It is necessary to make an adjustment satisfactory to the customer. On the other hand, if the investigation shows that the fault lies with the customer, someone must take time out to tactfully and courteously explain the facts concerning the case. Such instances will be helpful in making it clear that the store owner or the dealer has interest in the client as an individual, and offering him all possible help.
People are basically honest, and when facts are brought out into the open and misunderstanding is clarified, most people are reasonable, and they settle things by making a compromise satisfactory to both parties concerned.

Maintain personal contacts through follow-up. Some follow-up service is not only desirable in maintaining customer relations; it can be a source of profit for an organization.

Arrange extra special services. Still another way to improve customer relationships is to provide, whenever possible, special services, adequate warranty periods, and appropriate waiting room facilities in the service shop. Even a small service such as operating tips or certain economic measures will be appreciated by most customers and help build favorable attitudes toward the organization.

Lastly, make practical use of human relations and principles. A final technique of improving customer relations is to have the personnel sharpen up their practice of sound human relations. An aid to this might be the compiling of a list of some human relations practices especially appropriate to the improvement of relationships with your customers.

Converting Social Media Traffic into Sales

Social media is the latest breakthrough in technology to come along since the Internet first took off in popularity during the latter part of the 1990's. In the last 5 years, sites such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and Digg, have rapidly advanced the way individuals connect to one another and network in a variety of different relationship types. Some people use it to build their network of social alliances. Some people use these services for dating. Still others see the full business potential of the platforms and do their best to find connections in and related to their niche so they may further grow customer base and potential revenue streams. As an online business professional, you want to harness the power of social media to up sales and grow your business in the new millennium.

Social media is perhaps the best way of building client and customer lists and keeping them apprised of specials on products and services. Many online businesses prefer to use the power of social media to make special offers, but the tactic is not confined solely to the World Wide Web. Many brick and mortar businesses have started to realize the power of the social media marketplace in expanding sales beyond what is offered in a store. It is easy for followers of a pizzeria's Facebook page to find out about one-day specials and deep discounts for certain menu items. Without paying for the cost of an advertising spot, a restaurant or other business can run specials for those who follow their page and reap benefits with zero overhead in ad expenses.

Other than making offers online, businesses can get a good idea of the customers that are keeping them in business. They can develop more advanced marketing plans based on certain attributes and demographics that a basic email list simply doesn't have. When a person chooses to follow a business's social media profile, he or she willingly grants access to likes and interests that a business can then use in crafting promotions which might better convert sales from existing customers. Protecting a customer's privacy, however, must still be a top priority, so no matter what business you are in, you should never sell information you've compiled to other parties without the customers consent.

When you get ready to take your business to the next level, whether you do most of your business online or in the "real world," making wise use of social media is vital to growth and success. Resistance to changes in technology sets one up for failure in the economy of the 21st Century. And with all the cost efficient advantages that social media outlets provide, it pays to be proactive in learning the new tools of an old trade.

How To Increase Website Traffic With Forum Marketing

by Ian J Purdie

If you are a person who is serious about making money online then you need to make forum marketing an essential and regular part of your marketing efforts. It doesn't matter what market niche you are operating in, you need to take advantage of any forums that are available in your niche. A Google search using ("forums: your niche description") will soon give you plenty to choose from. As your forum skills develop so your website traffic will increase.

So why is it so important to be involved in forum marketing?

The answers to that questions are quite varied because forums offer a range of different services and opportunities. Probably the best way to summarize is:
  • forums are a great information resource
  • forums provide an opportunity for you to market your product or service, albeit in a fairly subtle way.
  • forums are a great source of back-links to your website
  • forums provide you with great contacts with other marketers
  • forums give you the opportunity to build your credibility and expertise.
  • Forum participation leads to an increase in website traffic
So what does it take to be successful with forum marketing?
Despite forums offering so many advantages, as outlined above, they are areas where you need to exercise a great deal of care and caution in how you conduct yourself. Failure to do so will mean loss of credibility and even barring from the forum. However, if you follow the rules and exercise common sense, then forums can be an enormous asset to your marketing efforts.
Your success is going to revolve around the following areas:
  • Be very active - it is no use logging in once a fortnight and thinking that you are going to achieve anything worthwhile. You need to be there at least two or three times a week, even daily. Post frequently, but not excessively. And remember - when you post and add your signature you are getting a back-link to your site. Over time, these back-links will lead to an increase in website traffic.
  • Offer value - it is no use making trite comments because you are only thinking about getting your signature noticed. The best way is to offer value in any discussion thread in which you choose to participate. Once other members see that you have something to offer then they will notice your signature and probably check you out by visiting your site - and that increase in website traffic is what you want!
  • Follow the forum rules carefully. Forums will have different rules and it is important to observe them. For example, some forums may allow promotion of your product directly - most don't: except through your signature link. In some forums you cannot even put in your signature link until you have posted a certain number of times.
  • Be courteous at all times. Avoid being caught up in any personal disputes and never engage in abusive or derogatory behaviour towards other members. Forum members are a cross-section of society and as such will have differing points of view and different sets of values. So... let courtesy and tolerance be your watchwords.
  • Concentrate on building your perceived expertise. The best way to do this is to follow carefully the various discussion threads and to hone in on those that are closest to your particular field of knowledge and expertise. This gives the opportunity to offer a comment, even a solution, to a problem that others may be having. This will enhance your credibility and people will, slowly but surely, perceive you as an expert in your field. In turn, you will receive an increase in website traffic. The golden rule is listen first and contribute later.
Follow the principles outlined and you will achieve success. Forum marketing will lead to an increase in the flow of business to your products or services.

The EASIEST Way To Get multiple streams of FREE Traffic? Do THIS At Least Once a Day for a Month

by Alexa Ross

This not only works, it works AMAZINGLY well, and if you do enough of it, and once you have enough of it out there in the "wild" it begins to work on automatic AUTOPILOT, too..:-)

I'm referring to, of course... article marketing.

CRUSHING it with your content.

And it absolutely ASTOUNDS me how many self professed SEO or traffic "guru's" don't understand the perpetual POWER that creating copious amounts of killer content can create for your BRAND....and your business.

Here is a fact that I will attest to everyday and twice on Sunday....even as I write this in 2011:

I tried a whole slew of different online marketing strategies, and some of them I still use on profitable projects, quite successfully.

1. PPC
2. Automated blog building
3. Data feeds
4. Social Media Marketing

And so on......

And I can tell you, without any equivocation, that even in 2011, the HIGHEST and best ROI I get from my traffic is from the articles I write.....PERIOD.

I still get traffic, (and SALES) from content I created years ago....when I first started this amazing adventure into the wild and wooly world of online marketing madness..:-)

You'll NEVER get sales from PPC ads you ran in 2008......or "tweets" you sent out a year ago, etc.

As a matter of fact, even today.....I start EVERY day off by creating content, just like this, in a bunch of different niches, just because I'm addicted to FREE traffic that really DOES convert like crazy.

And if you are serious about YOUR business this year, you'll do the same thing.....starting today.

Precise target advertising is what Google AdWords provide and this occurs whenever a customer performs a Google search on say garden pots and the customer is led directly to a link to your website, if you are selling garden pots.

However, for us to be able to maximize our success with Google AdWords, we first have to understand what it is and how it works. For all intents and purposes, you have to know that when one does a search on Google, two types of search results show up on the screen - on the left are the organic search results which pertains to links that are placed there as a reward for doing proper search engine optimization strategies and tactics which are absolutely free of charge and un-sponsored by anyone, and on the right side of the browser window and at times on top of the organic results are called Sponsored Links which pertains to paid advertisements and they are always identified with that heading - Sponsored Links.

Now being a part of the paid advertisement group is not as easy as simply paying for a specific keyword and off you go wait in a corner and watch the cash register clink with sales since the keyword that you may be bidding on may just be the same keyword as many huge companies are bidding on to as well and you would be in tight competition with entities that have deeper pockets than you. The ultimate goal in this scenario is the lowest cost per click or CPC and the highest quality of clicks, the ones that transform into sales and leads (these are called conversions and they are mighty important since not all clicks turn into sales and when you have a lot of clicks with minimal conversions, it is high time to re-assess your advertisement strategy and probably redesign your approach.

Google AdWords provides the necessary tools in order for you to get started with online advertising and to be able to maximize your internet presence since Google AdWords offers you tools that help you at the very onset for instance the proper way of selecting your keywords. And much more, Google AdWords allow you to set your own daily budget, language targeting, location targeting, ad distribution selection and preferences, and even the start and end dates of your online campaign.

How to develop a web marketing strategy

By Brandon Crowley, Minneapolis Web Design

Before designing and implementing any new website, a website marketing strategy should be developed and ready to put into action. This will help ensure the website has a steady stream of traffic, which is important to the success of any website. Without people knowing about and using the site, it will never be able to accomplish the goals and objectives set forth by the initial website plan. Developing a website marketing strategy is a relatively simple process, with three steps: focus on the objective, develop the tactics, and write the plan. When these steps are complete, the marketing strategy is ready to implement.

Focus on the objective. [Website marketing strategies] should support the website objective. Determine what you want the website to do, and find at least three ways you can do this. For example, if you want the website to increase awareness of a particular brand or product, sample strategies could include:

Improving online communication, Communication of the website’s existence and development to existing clients and Advertising campaigns.

Develop the tactics. Tactics are the specific action steps you will take to make the strategies happen.

Continuing with the example above, you could:
  • Send an email newsletter to all existing clients and mailing list members announcing the development of the site
  • Start and use several different social networking accounts with Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter, in order to start building brand awareness and following
  • Write and submit a press release
  •  Start a paid per click advertising program to increase exposure and awareness of the website
Write the Plan. Now that you know what you need to do and how you are going to do it, it is time to put everything down in a plan. This way you’ll have a reference to go by as you move through the website marketing strategy and can make changes if you need to, based on how well the results are turning out to be. This will also help to inform others who may be working on the project with you.

If your website is already up and running but did not have a marketing strategy put in place before it launched, it is not too late to take care of it. Focus on what is going on with the website by using an analytics program, such as Google Analytics to see visitor trends. These trends will tell you: what, if any, search engine phrases users are coming to the site on, how long they are staying on the site, how many pages they are visiting while on the site, what page they came to the site on, and what page they left the site on. Use this information to make adjustments to the website marketing strategy accordingly.

If you’re having difficulty deciding what to do and how to do it, you may want to take a look at our marketing services. This is a wonderful way to ensure your website makes it on the map and starts getting the traffic it needs to succeed.

By Brandon Crowley, Minneapolis Web Design

This is the number one question in our clients mind! Most printed advertising run from $200 to $500 per print. Let me explain that a little better. Let’s say you want to use The Clipper Magazine. A front cover ad and distribution will cost you $500 per city. That is IT! It only runs one time, if you customer don't read it and throw it away you just wasted your money. This magazine has a great strategy for their business. They tell you, that you must run more than one time and lock you in on a contract.

Now online marketing with Visual Web Group works like this. We charge you to optimize your website for national searches. You can have up to 10 keywords.  The online marketing for local searches will last much longer versus 1 week from the magazines you see above. We also offer a GREAT local marketing program that has put us above any of our competitors in Google Places marketing. As you can see there is absolutely no competition between the 2.  We hope this article opens your eyes on online marketing, if you are running print ads please do yourself a favor and stop wasting your MONEY!

5 reasons why small business websites fail

by Ken Horst, www.myseoworkshop.com

1. No Keyword research -
Neither the  business owner nor their web master  did any keyword research to help them understand how people search for what they sell and how many searches are conducted each month.  As a result there are little or no on-site SEO tactics being used.  Frequently I see small business websites that have a title tag with the words “home page” in it.  At the very least your title tag should contain the most relevant keyword for your business. Follow this link for a great free  keyword research tool.

2. Poorly written content -
Also a result of no keyword research, their content is not optimized for how people search for their product or service. Usually the content I see on most small business websites was not written by a skilled writer let alone a trained SEO copy writer.  It was either hastily written by a busy small business owner or it was written by a web master/web designer who has little knowledge of their clients business or industry.  As a result their pages do not rank well in the search engines.

3. No Back links -
Recently I looked into a site for an attorney who asked me to check it out and see if I could give him any tips on how to rank higher in Google for his target keywords.  To my surprise, his web master had done a very good job of on-site optimization.  So the question became, if his site has good on-site seo practices in place, why isn’t it ranking higher in Google.  Part of the answer is in the fact that neither the attorney nor his web master had taken the time to develop and execute a back link strategy.

A back link is a link from another industry related site to your site.  Back links should be anchor text links which means that the keyword your are trying to rank for is included in the link like this, anchor text back link
The more quality back links you have pointing to your site, the more likely it is your site will rise up in the search engine rankings. Good sources of back links are blogs, forums, directories and of course other industry related sites.

4. Poor or no placement in Local Listings -
Their site doesn’t show up in Google Places (formally referred to as Local Listings) or any of the other major search engine’s local listing directories.  It is easy and free to add and/or update your company’s listing in Google places and on the other major search engines.  It’s important when doing this to make sure you complete all the fields in your listing.  In Google places you can and should also add photos and video to your company listing.  You can find out how you and your web master are doing with your sites local listing strategy at getlisted.org.

5. No landing page -
Most small business have never heard of the term “landing page optimization“.  They think of their home page as the main entry page to their site and wonder why they aren’t getting more calls, leads and sales from their visitors.  This is because most home pages don’t include a compelling call to action.  On many of the small business sites I review each week it’s difficult for me to find their phone number let alone any other way for me to connect with them or take an action that would lead to a sale.
Smart internet marketers have a clear idea of what they want their visitors/prospect to do when they land on a site and it usually boils down to;
  • Call me (The phone number is prominent on every page with a call to action like “call now for more info” or to “place an order”)
  • Give me your email ( form for email capture in exchange for membership, a newsletter, white paper or some other item of value to your target market)
  • Buy from me ( shopping cart)
These are just a few of the reasons why small business web sites fail, there are many more and  the internet continues to evolve and change which makes it even more important to pay attention, develop a plan, execute, measure and adjust as you go

Why Twitter is so crucial to your business

By Brandon Crowley, Minneapolis Web Design

Here are the Top 9 reasons why your company should be on Twitter…today:

1. Twitter is unstoppable. It’s growth has surprised any expectations, rising to 23 million unique users in July (that’s a 16% growth from May alone and doesn’t include those that use outside resources for Twitter instead of logging on to twitter.com)

2. Twitter is the number one social media tool among Fortune 100 companies. Of the Fortune 100 companies on Twitter, 94 percent use it for news/announcements, 67 percent for customers service, and 57 percent for deals and promotions. It’s just as easy for you to be on Twitter as it is for the big guys!

3. Twitter is still the buzz word. The media is obsessed with it and it recieves TONS of free press and coverage.

4. Twitter is a great way to connect with your customer base for everything from customer service to promotional purposes. Many small business have  been able to double their customer base due to Twitter alone.

5. “No time” is no longer a good excuse. Visual Web Group will manage and update your Twitter page daily.

6. Twitter allows you to immediately notify your customers of promotions, events or even clear up a mishap or customer service issue. Perfect example: JetBlue tweets flight delays (which we all now is probably a full time job on it’s own). You are able to manage the customers expectations.

7. Become an expert in your field. Twitter allows you to post valuable information that your peers and customers will look forward to reading. You’ll become a reliable and trusted source for information, which in turn builds brand credibility.

9. Use Twitter to get to know your customers better. Not only should they follow you, but you should reciprocate the act. You will get some insight in to what your customers want and look for, helping you craft your messages and marketing efforts. Twitter is also great for focus groups and other means of research.

10. Instant gratification. Results are speedy. Gone are the days of watching and waiting. You can tweet promotions and coupons for today. Or tweet questions to your followers and have answers within minutes. Or even put the kabosh on any negativity that may surface… immediately.

This is just the beginning. Twitter will continue to grow by the day and you don’t want to be left out!
